Never before have such an array of beer styles, flavours and colours graced the shelves of bottleshops, the taps of pubs and the fridges of restaurants. 

While the array is daunting, help is at hand. The Beer Academy is an educational body dedicated to helping people understand, appreciate and enjoy beer sensibly.

Founded in the UK in 2003, the Beer Academy is today an arm of the the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD), an educational charity delivering education and training to professional brewers and distillers worldwide. 

The Beer Academy has recently launched in Australia and conducts public tastings and education sessions, as well as trade training.

Classes are run by recognised experts with a passion for beer and are conducted in a relaxed manner befitting beer's essential unpretentious sociability, while still providing the perfect combination of fun and discovery. They will surprise and delight you and your friends with the versatility of the not-so-humble brew, all while you you learn about beer styles, flavours, techniques and its ancient origins.

Courses start with 90-minute tastings and extend to half-day workshops, through to two-day advanced courses and specialised Beer Sommelier courses.
